Mercy San Juan Medical Center's 31-bed Emergency Department is the foundation of our Level II Trauma Center which brings enhancements in diagnostic imaging equipment, monitoring equipment and lab services to the hospital, benefitting all Mercy San Juan patients. In addition to equipment upgrades, patients also have greater access to
specialty doctors
.
The Trauma Center takes pride in its excellence and team of doctors, nurses and many other healthcare professionals. In November 2003, the Trauma Center received renewal of its American College of Surgeons (ACS) verification, the gold standard for trauma centers. ACS surveyors, who in an earlier survey said that other hospitals looking to start a trauma center should use Mercy San Juan's trauma program as a model, listed many strengths and could not find a single weakness.
In addition to strong outcomes in patient care, Mercy San Juan's Trauma Center created a Trauma Prevention Program that reaches out to the community in many ways.
